A friend linked to a post today encouraging men to date women who read. Is this something we need to be telling people? I mean, I know there are a lot of dumb people out there. But I hope I don’t know anyone who would date someone who doesn’t read.

And I don’t mean simply having the capability of reading. I mean someone who reads books. Someone who reads things on purpose, not counting twitter or some mindless magazine.

Saying that you don’t read is like saying you don’t shower or you don’t eat vegetables. You should always be reading. You should always be learning.

I have very strange interests (I assume comparing my interests to others I know). So I find books on things and I read. I gather information. I really enjoy non-fiction, especially history, conspiracies, and anything on UFOs/aliens.

But you can read anything. Read a fantasy novel. Read a book about baking. Just read and keep reading.
